3 Brain Power Moves For More Energy

Let’s do a brain energy checkup.

You only have so much brain power each day.

In the brain injury rehab world, we talk about energy by thinking of the brain as a pie.
 
Your brain controls everything your body and mind are doing. If 50% of your brain’s focus is on pain (i.e. half the pie), then you’ve only got 50% left for every other function.

Pain and stress- whether mental, emotional, or physical- can easily leave you with crumbs energy wise as they take up a lot of brain space (or pie).
 
Here are 3 MOVES to help you free up some brain space for more energy & better performance:
  1. Get It Out Of Your Head- a simple writing exercise, like Morning Pages, can help clear your mind & strengthen your creativity muscles. Learn how in this blog post. Modify by drawing vs writing if you prefer.
  2. Get Out Of Pain- you’ll find my favorite tips for decreasing pain & inflammation in this blog post.
  3. Get Out Of A Stress Cycle- this will help calm your nervous system & turn on rest & relax mode. You can complete a stress cycle with movement/exercise, breathwork, laughter, crying, affection, and creative self-expression (i.e. writing, singing, painting). See how that works? Morning pages would count!
